As promised last week here is another post teaching you a few more useful
phrases in Norwegian! I thought I would also give you some more information
about the language and some points of interest about Norway.

Norwegian belongs to the northern group of Germanic languages. It is very close to Swedish and Danish and is also related to English, German and Dutch.
The following website has some great free games that help you to learn some basic words and phrases in Norwegian (and up to 60 other languages!) http://www.digitaldialects.com/Norwegian.htm. Well worth a look if you are planning a holiday abroad this year and would like to be able to speak a few sentences of the countries language.

Northern Norway is famous for the spectacular Northern lights, an amazing display of lights in the sky created by nature that typically appear between September to March every year. The lights have been described as 'unearthly' and many people say that photographs simply can not show quite how breath taking the lights are. So it is something that is well worth a visit if you are able to, unfortunately you have no guarantee of seeing the northern lights if you book a holiday to try and see them. You have a better chance of seeing them in the colder winter months of December and January, and avoid a full moon as the brightness of the moon with prevent you from seeing the northern lights.

Even more reason to learn a few words of Norwegian now so here are a few more simple phrases for you to learn!

Nei                                                                                                                   -        No.
Unnskyld (meg). (Unn-skyll mei)                                                                     -        Excuse me.
